Canucks @ Bruins – Stanley Cup Game Four Preview
Boston fans had to wait 21 years for a Stanley Cup Final game on home ice and the Bruins didn’t disappoint their faithful. The 8-1 final score was the largest margin of victory since 1996 when the Colorado Avalanche buried the Florida Panthers by the same score.
Vancouver and Boston combined for 145 total penalty minutes in Game Three – the most in a Cup Final since the Calgary Flames and Tampa Bay Lightning combined for 127 PM in 2003-04.
While the Bruins won most of the battles in Game Three, they lost their second leading scorer after Canucks D Aaron Rome laid out Boston F Nathan Horton with a brutal hit. Both players are done for the season as Horton has a concussion and Rome has been suspended for the remainder of the playoffs.
This trade off is heavily slanted in favor of the Canucks, when it comes to scoring, as Rome had one point in 14 games while Horton had 17 points in 21 games.
Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo took the loss; his first in five games, and will need to rebound tonight – we think he will. Bruins G Tim Thomas was outstanding again as he stopped 40 of 41 shots. Thomas was particularly solid when the outcome of the game was still in question during the scoreless first period.
If the Canucks want to return to Vancouver, with a chance to wrap up the Cup Final in Game Five, they will need to be better in all aspects of the game tonight.
That is especially true on Special Teams as the Canucks power play went 0-8 in Game Three. They also gave up two goals while they had the man advantage and Boston potted two power play goals.

Tonight we feature NHL puck betting lines from the sportsbook at the Bodog online sports wagering website.
Although the score and overall play in Game Three was extremely lopsided, in favor of the Bruins, the Canucks should be able to shrug it off – it just wasn’t their night.
Henrick (0 PTS) and Daniel Sedin (2 PTS) have been virtually invisible through the first three games of this series. We expect the Bruins will continue with their physical play tonight and, if the twins can crank it up, penalties could cost them in the end.
Both goaltenders will steal the spot light tonight as we see this contest mirroring the first two games of the series. We are looking to go 4-0 in the playoffs and keep our Canucks winning the Cup in five games prediction alive.
Take the Canucks over the Bruins with +1.5 goals (-260) at Bodog!
