Despite shooting just 38.8% from the field (31-80) the Heat were still able to dismantle the Mavericks in Game One as they came away with a 92-84 victory.

Dallas shot slightly worse as they had a 37.3 shooting percentage. Way more alarming though is the discrepancy in offensive rebounds. The Heat crushed the Mavericks on the offensive glass with a 16-6 differential.

Mavericks Captain Dirk Nowitzki tore a tendon in the middle finger of his left hand and, while it’s not his shooting hand, this is huge setback for Dallas.

If Dallas is going to steal a win in Miami, they will need Nowitzki to be better than his Game One 7-18 FGM-A performance. Jason Kidd was 6-15 (FG & 3PT) and Jason Terry was 3-10 from the field. They both need to step up from those Game One efforts as well.

For Miami the game plan is pretty simple. Keep up the defensive pace, continue to crash the offensive boards, and fire away at will.

Though the end result wasn’t pretty, LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh shot a combined 23-53 from the field in Game One. The top three from Dallas had just 40 shots from the field and drained just 16 of them.
