MLB American League West 2012 Division Betting Preview
With the start of the 2012 Major League Baseball season now just days away, today we take a look at the betting lines set for teams to win the American League West. Top online sportsbooks are offering these future bets along with a ton of other team and player props!
AL West Favorites: Los Angeles Tops Texas
Despite winning back-to-back American League West pennants, the Texas Rangers are not the favorites to win the AL West during the 2012 MLB season. That lofty perch belongs to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim who were busy making headlines during the off-season.
While the Rangers had a relatively quite winter, the Angels were busy adding bulk to an already impressive lineup. The addition of first baseman Albert Pujols, along with pitcher C.J. Wilson (lured away from the Rangers), makes the LA squad worthy of their favorite line.
Seattle Mariners – Oakland Athletics: The Weak Get Weaker
Many expect that it will take close to 100 wins to capture the American League West pennant during the 2012 MLB campaign. That’s not good news for the Mariners or the Athletics. Seattle hasn’t won more than 90 games since the 2003 season while the Athletics haven’t recorded over 85 wins since the 2006 MLB season. We can’t see it happening in 2012 either.
It will be a tale of two battles in the AL West as the Rangers and Angels will fight for the title, while the Mariners and Athletics will struggle to stay out of the basement. In the end, we like an Angels, Rangers, Athletics, and Mariners order of finish in the AL West Division.
