The season went sideways for LSU when they lost 14-6 to #10 Florida in Week 6 all SEC action. Their BCS Championship dreams evaporated after a 21-17 loss in Week 9 to then #1 Alabama. The Crimson Tide are now ranked #2 behind Notre Dame.
LSU went 6-2 in South East Conference play and 3-2 against Top 25 teams. These cats love playing in Atlanta as they are 9-1 at the Georgia Dome. The Tigers also own a sparkling 5-0 record in the Chick-fil-A Bowl – formerly known as the Peach Bowl. Defense is the name of the game for LSU as the Tigers ranked 11th in the Nation allowing just 16.9 points per game.
Clemson Tigers: Offense first for 10-2 ACC representatives
As runner-ups in the Atlantic Coast Conference, #14 Clemson lit up scoreboards everywhere they went this season – though no so much against their lone SEC opponent. The Tigers were 6th in the country in scoring with a 42.3 PPG average. Junior QB Tajh Boyd lead the Clemson attack as he tossed 34 touchdowns and the Tigers averaged 319 passing yards per game.
When they weren’t passing the ball the Tigers were racking up 198.8 rushing yards per game. RB Andre Ellington who posted 1,031 rushing yards and eight touchdowns led the CU ground attack. Clemson, who went 0-2 against AP Top 25 teams, is coming off a disappointing 27-17 season ending loss to the 12th ranked South Carolina Gamecocks – who LSU defeated 23-21.
