Jets vs Bills Battle Highlights NFL Week 12 Sunday Action
With our Thanksgiving Day football feast digested, we look to the NFL Week 12 Sunday action to reinvigorate our sports betting appetite. There are a couple of big games on the Sunday menu including the Buffalo Bills visiting the New York Jets in an all AFC East Division battle.
The Jets and Bills head into Week 12 sitting tenth and eleventh in the AFC playoff race. With the Ravens leading the AFC North at 8-3, followed by the 7-3 Steelers and 6-4 Bengals, there’s no room for either of these 5-5 teams in the AFC Wild Card playoff picture.
Bills @ Jets NFL Week 12: Loser Exits AFC Playoff Race
In addition to looking up at the three AFC North teams, the Jets and Bills both loose out to the 5-5 Denver Broncos and Tennessee Titans on the tie-breaking scenarios. Once this contest is over, one of these teams can kiss their NFL 2011 playoff hopes goodbye.
Over their next six games, the New England Patriots face teams with a combined 20-41 record the rest of the way. Neither Buffalo or New York is going to win the AFC East Division. Their playoff hopes rest solely on capturing one the two AFC Wild Card berths.
Pittsburgh will move to 8-3 after they crush the Chiefs on Sunday. The Steelers then have two games against the Browns, and one each against the Bengals, Rams, and 49ers left on their schedule. Baltimore is in a similar boat as they also have two games left against the Browns, and one each against the Colts, Chargers and Bengals.
Buffalo Bills – New York Jets: NFL 2011 Playoff Season Starts Now
Based on the above scheduling scenarios, one can surmise that both the Steelers and Ravens are going to make the playoffs. That leaves just one Wild Card spot on the 2011 AFC playoff dance card. If the Bengals can go 3-3 over their next six games, starting with a win over the Browns on Sunday, they would finish at 9-7 on the season.
Whoever wins this Bills vs Jets contest would then have to go 4-1 to finish with a better record than the Bengals. The Bills wrap up against TEN, SD, MIA, DEN, and a Week 17 Patriots “B” squad. New York closes out versus WAS, KC, PHI, NYG, and on the road against their arch enemy – the Miami Dolphins.
If you are betting on it, this game being in played at MetLife Stadium, in East Rutherford, New Jersey, makes it advantage Jets over the Bills on Sunday, November 26, 2011.
That being said, neither of these two teams will make the AFC playoff party this season.
