Angels vs Astros: MLB American League West Wagering Odds
MLB American League West action is our focus today as we take a look at the match-up featuring the Los Angeles Angles visiting the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park. The Halos have been a big disappointment so far this season and, with no expectations, the Astros are preforming as we thought they would. First pitch is scheduled for 8:10 PM ET on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, from the Lone Star State. Houston has a lot of problems and we like the Angels here!
Los Angeles Angels: Sputtering start for top ALW chalk
Top preseason favorites (as they always seem to be) the Los Angeles Angels are off to a horrible start as we near the quarter pole of the 2013 MLB season. A trip to Houston will help bolster their record as the Astros seem over-matched on a nightly basis. It helps that the Halo’s have their top strikeout pitcher on the bump as C.J. Wilson leads Los Angeles with 32 K’s in 35.2 innings pitched. We also expect the Angels “big bats” to heat up during this series.
Houston Astros: First year foray into the American League West is a disaster
Anyone thinking that a change of leagues would result in a change of fortunes for the Astros was way off base. The ‘Stros lead the Majors in a lot of categories but all of them are marks of futility. Houston’s team ERA is the worst in the league (5.75) they have allowed the most home runs (36) and they are one of three clubs that still haven’t reached 200 strikeouts pitched. On the offensive side of the coin, the Astros lead the majors with 323 strikeouts – in 32 games!

Surfing over to the williamhill.com online sportsbook we find the Angels as road chalk at -1.5 (-120) on the run line and -180 S/U. The Astros are home pups at +1.5 (EVEN) ATS and +160 with the money line while the Over/Under is posted at a monster 9 runs (O-120 U +100). With a 11-20 record, backing LA is far from a sure thing but the Astros at 8-24 are just too tempting. We’ll plug our nose and back the Angels from Anaheim with the -180 ML at William Hill.
