Rating 6 out of 10 because it was not really my cup of tea and it was very slow but the ending gave me many thoughts - forgiveness comes with so many sacrifices, regrets, and sometimes even death. Even Victor, who is genius also never had the wisdom like the blind old man. The Frankenstein himself was also in agony with hatred, just like his creature. Human is imperfect in many ways at the end of the day, and we cannot create perfect creatures. The Frankenstein said to Victor on his death bed, “his grief and anger had no meaning” as coming to this conclusion that he always wanted to be just loved and interact with people, feel the warmth of other human’s touch just like how Elizabeth gave to him very briefly yet indeed significantly. He accepts Victor’s apology so he can be finally in peace. When seeing his first tear drop since he was created, it actually concluded this movie so well. Victor also knew nothing about how to teach since his father’s teaching was always cruel and strict, which later Victor himself also did not know how to teach Frankenstein but copies his father’s brutality and impatience in his teaching. I hoped that Victor was bit more patient with the Frankenstein because it was clear that he learned speaking and developed his emotional intelligence quickly. I would call such wasteful talent of Victor’s family’s that is ruined and destroyed by their personality, a curse of the Frankenstein. The curse also didn’t end with Victor’s personality but also the tragedy of family’s death (Victor’s younger brother and his fiancée Elizabeth) that always followed Victor since he was kid, started from his loving mother, to his younger brother and his fiance.

Guillermo del Toro's 'Frankenstein' captivates with its visually stunning and emotionally charged portrayal, drawing praise for its deep humanization of the creature and the intense performances, particularly by Jacob Elordi. The film's gothic ambiance and philosophical depth resonate with viewers, though some find its 2.5-hour runtime and pacing occasionally burdensome. Despite minor criticisms about its length and certain narrative choices, the film's profound exploration of themes like creation, isolation, and humanity leaves a lasting impact.

👍 Jacob Elordi's portrayal of the creature deeply moves audiences.

👎 The film's length and pacing may feel slow to some viewers.
